NINJA CAMP

Callin all Ninjas, Warriors, and Superheros! 

 

We’ll practice (safely) some hand to had combat skills. 

We are also adding an “every kid for themselves” epic battle. 

And last, but not least we have a huge, outdoor obstacle course planned.  

 

Make sure participants wear play clothes and bring a change of clothes.  They will get wet, dirty, and messy!!!!

Tap Dance for Beginners through Adults.  

 

Whether you are a beginner with no experience interested in trying tap, or you want to increase your skills and practice technique, this class has you covered.  

 

Tap shoes are suggested, but not required.  Socks can be worn for the workshop as you learn the steps.

we know she can also dance!

We would like to welcome Kailey Nugent back to Mustard Seed Arts Academy!

 

 

Miss Kailey is coming again this summer for two sessions.  She will be offering an intensive dance experience in jazz/contemporary.

  

All dancers must wear appropriate dance attire (leotard, tights, dance shoes), have their hair pulled back and off their face, and bring a water bottle. 

 

New and experienced dancers are welcome!

MEET KAILEY!

 

Kailey is currently a dancer and student at Point Park University, in Pittsburgh PA and an alumni of Oglebay Institute School of Dance in Wheeling, WV. She has experience in many dance styles including ballet, pointe, jazz, contemporary, lyrical, acrobatics, tumbling, choreography, variations, and hip hop. 

 

Kailey has been an assistant teacher for Gumby Kids Gymnastics, Private Dance Lessons, Beginner Pointe, and Beginner Ballet.

 

During her time at Oglebay Institute School of Dance, Kailey danced in a number of shows under the direction of Cheryl Pompeo.  She was in Hansel and Gretel, Beauty and the Beast, Alice in Wonderland, Cinderella, Snow White, The Little Mermaid, The Wizard of Oz, and multiple years of The Nutcracker. 

 

While at Point Park University, she has been in the Choreography Collective and Boo’s Halloween House Party.

 

Other programs and workshops she has been part of include Oglebay’s Summer Intensive Program, West Virginia University Summer Intensive, Cincinnati Ballet, The Rock School of Dance, Texture Ballet, Point Park University Dance Program, Moscow Russian Nutcracker, West Virginia Dance Festival, Exactitude Dance Workshop.

Morning Session – 10:00 am – 12 noon

 

Afternoon Session 12:30 pm – 2:30 pm

 

  • Prepare a vocal piece of your choice
  • Perform for our guest instructor who will offer critique and suggestions to improve your vocal skills.

MEET JORDAN

 West Virginia soprano, Jordan Stadvec, has been hailed as  a “riveting”, “natural scene-stealer” with “crystal clear high notes” and an “attractive, bright timbre.”  She is the Choir Director at Concord University, where she earned her undergraduate degree. 

 

She trained as an apprentice artist at the Miami Musical Festival for three summers and went on to earn her Masters Degree and Artist Diploma at the University of Cincinnati: College – Conservatory of Music, where she was afforded the opportunity to star in many operas and concerts.  

 

Ms. Stadvec enjoys singing a great variety of repertoire and was a semi-finalist in the American Traditions Competition in which vocalists compete in at least nine genres.  She was most recently heard as The Witch in Theatre West Virginia’s production of Into the Woods.  She has been featured in several musicals and recordings and has won many competitions, including the Metropolitan Opera National Council Auditions: North Carolina District.  

 

She has taught voice and piano students of all ages and enjoys inspiring and encouraging their musical pursuits. 

 

We have two Ballet Workshops coming to New Martinsville this summer.  

 

Beginner Ballet (Ages 5-9) is a class intended for dancers to work on strengthening, understanding ballet terminology, and practicing the beginning stages of technique.

 

Intermediate/Advanced Ballet (Ages 10-18) is intended for dancers who already have an understanding of ballet terminology and are looking to strengthen technique, work on muscle memory, and begin learning more advanced combinations. 

 

Register early to ensure your space in class. 

 

Dancers must come dressed in appropriate dance attire consisting of a leotard, pink dance tights, and ballet flats.  Hair must be pulled back in a slick back bun. Boys may wear warm up pants or sweat pants and a solid, neutral colored tshirt.

MEET KENNEDI

 

Kennedi Chesonis has been dancing for 10 years with Oglebay Institute School of Dance, was a member of their youth ballet company for 8 years, and a member of their pre-professional ballet program for 8 years.  Her dance training includes multiple workshops with instructors such as Ryan Lenkey, General Hambrick, Lorraine Graves, Michael Greer, Alexa Kochis, an Christopher Bandy.   

 

She has attended OI’s Four Sunday’s, Dancing With Wheels workshops, and has performed and danced at the West Virginia Dance Festival the past 5 years.  she attended Balletmet’s Summer Dance Intensive, Point Park’s Summer Workshop, WVU’s Summer Workshop, Louisville Ballet’s Summer Intensive, and OI’s Summer Dance Intensive the past 7 years.  

 

Her main roles while performing with Oglebay Institute include Sugar Plum Fairy in the Nutcracker, Emerald Queen in the Wizard of Oz, and Bluebird in Hansel and Gretel.  Kennedi also had the opportunity to dance with the Wheeling Symphony Masterworks in their piece “The Painted Sky.”

 

She has been an assistant dance teacher, dance choreographer, and substitute dance teacher all while dancing with OI.  

 

Kennedi will be pursuing a BFA in dance at the University of Akron where she was awarded scholarship and dance merit.
